Happy Birthday Marilyn Monroe

Norma Jean Baker was born 89 years ago today, she was an incredibly beautiful woman who has given us some of the most iconic images. It’ll come as no surprise to anyone that I find her an absolute joy to draw, so I thought for her birthday I’d do some new artwork and decided to choose some more playful, happy images of her, rather than the bombshell look you see the most often. I think the soft pastels and the polka dots suit her really well.

As I’m taking part in #blogeverydayjune (see original here) I want to try and do a lot more artwork this month, so stay tuned for more, and please do take to Twitter to remind me to blog every day!

  1. You are SO talented – these are very beautiful pictures and very much in keeping with the time that Marilyn lived and died. You have really captured her innocence, something that other artists often gloss over.

    1. Thank you sweetheart. I love that she had this sweetness to her, she wasn’t just sexy, she was soft with it. I also think she had the most contagious smile, so I always prefer those kinds of pictures to the smouldering/glamourous ones.
