I’m starting a new weekly series to celebrate inspiring women. I’m starting with the amazing Beth Ditto!
I have to confess, I am late to the Beth Ditto fan club, having only actually listened to her for the first time last year. But I am a convert.
In case you are as useless at following pop culture as I am, Beth Ditto is the lead singer with Gossip (who are brilliant) and she is the most gloriously unapologetic fat woman, everything about her screams, “this who I am, don’t like it? Not my problem”, and I love that.
“I believe I owe all the best parts of my adulthood to embracing my imperfections and showcasing them.”
I love this quote, it’s a joyful approach to life, something I think is a great way to view things.
I had great fun looking through photos of her for inspiration for this post, she has worn some utterly amazing outfits, breaking “rules” all over the place, I could have drawn far more than three pictures of her, but didn’t want to get too carried away and miss getting this post out on time.
I really hope to get to see her perform live at some point, but for now I’m excited to see her new clothing line and hear her solo album, can’t wait!
As part of this weekly series I would like to draw attention to a charity who helps women, they are called Watford Women’s Centre and they do a lot of good work, from helping victims of domestic violence, to offering counselling, to job clubs, and more. As with many similar organisations they do not receive funding from the local council, so if you could spare some money to donate that would be amazing.
I should point out I am not affiliated with them in any way, they have not asked me to do this, but I have used their services before and wanted to try and give something back.
The link to donate is here – please support a wonderful women’s centre.
